“A good lawyer needs to be skilled craftsman, a professional who can bring order to complex situations, identify key issues, make choices and plot out smart strategies to achieve clearly defined goals. It’s also important to be able to describe the relevant facts and legal arguments in clear language and, if necessary, to plead your case. You can only do this if you’re wholly committed to your case, not if you are looking at it from a distance or as a small cog in a larger abstract machine.”
