HENDRIK JAN SCHIMMEL

Partner

One of the founding partners of Rutgers & Posch, Hendrik Jan specialises in corporate law and real estate law. Most of his practice consists of real estate transactions, and in particular buying and selling commercial properties and real estate companies. Hendrik Jan also advises on lease law, and handles mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and capital market transactions.

Before starting Rutgers & Posch, Hendrik Jan worked for various international firms, including Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he worked for 12 years.

“A good lawyer needs to be skilled craftsman, a professional who can bring order to complex situations, identify key issues, make choices and plot out smart strategies to achieve clearly defined goals. It’s also important to be able to describe the relevant facts and legal arguments in clear language and, if necessary, to plead your case. You can only do this if you’re wholly committed to your case, not if you are looking at it from a distance or as a small cog in a larger abstract machine.”
