Dirk Jan is one of the founding partners of Rutgers & Posch. He is a boardroom counselor and acts as mediator on organisational issues and collaborations between institutions. He supervised complex restructurings and reorganisations, where he was responsible for stakeholder management, in the financial sector, the public sector, the media industry, the healthcare industry and in other lines of business.

Dirk Jan draws in this capacity on his experience as a specialist employment lawyer, where he advises domestic and international clients on mergers, reorganisations, dismissals, co-determination and statutory boards issues. He also leverages experience as board member and supervisory board member of several institutions.

Before founding Rutgers & Posch, Dirk Jan was a partner at various law firms including DLA Piper. He also worked for firms in New York and Washington D.C. He is a member of the Dutch Employment Law Association, and a guest lecturer at VU University Amsterdam. Dirk Jan is Past Chair of the Diversity and Equality Law Committee and the Global Employment Institute of the International Bar Association. He is frequently invited to speak at international conferences.

Dirk Jan Rutgers is chairman of the board of Koninklijke HFC in Haarlem, the oldest football club in the Netherlands.
