Employers with more than 50 employees (this also includes interns and volunteers who receive compensation for their work) are required, as of 17 December 2023, to have a procedure for reporting a suspected abuse within the organization (internal whistleblowers policy) that complies with the Whistleblower Protection Act. Employers with more than 250 employees have already had to comply with this since 18 February 2023. For some organizations, employers with fewer than 50 employees must also have such a reporting procedure. This applies e.g. to the financial sector.
Does your organization already have a reporting procedure in place or perhaps an old version? Our employment lawyers Inge de Laat and Annemeijne Zwager would be happy to discuss this with you further and have a template ‘reporting arrangement’ available if desired.
